Sekou Endorsed by DC Chapter of National Organization for Women

The DC Chapter of the National Organization for Women (DC NOW) endorsed Sekou this week. Susan Mottet said they chose to endorse Sekou because “Mr. Biddle has been a consistent and vocal supporter of equality for all District residents and we need his integrity back on the Council. Read more

DC Urban Moms and Dads Support Sekou

DC Urban Moms and Dads have endorsed Sekou’s campaign. Jeff Smith writes “Sekou Biddle combines a long track record of successful achievement in education and politics in the District of Columbia with a true commitment to cleaning up government. With a Council that has become little more than a joke due to ethics controversies, Biddle will help create a government in which DC residents can be proud.” Read more about why DC Urban Moms and Dads support Sekou on their website atdcurbanmom.comRead more

Sekou Supports Small Businesses, Orange Supports Big Donors

On Tuesday Sekou called on Vincent Orange to support small businesses and support the “Jobber Bill” which would have protected residents and independently owned gas stations from price manipulation and helped lower gas prices in the District. Unfortunately, Orange’s vote caused the bill to fail 6 to 6. Orange, who is chair of the Small Business Committee, voted against the bill at the urging of his largest campaign donor, a large gas distributor who controls 40 percent of the market and opposed the bill.

You can read more about Sekou’s support for lower gas prices, small businesses and efforts to get rid of pay to play on the DC Council here.

Sekou Calls on DC Council to Protect Most Vulnerable Residents

Yesterday, Sekou called on the DC Council to focus on the city’s most vulnerable residents in response to today’s report from DC Action for Children showing an increase in child poverty in wards seven and eight. He said the report “makes it clear that we have not done enough to ensure that all residents, regardless of ward, income, or political connections, are benefitting from the continued economic growth in our city.” Read more about the report and where the council has fallen short atwww.sekoubiddle.orgRead more

Election Day is Closer Than You Think

The April 3 primary is rapidly approaching. Make sure to mark the new primary date on your calendar. This is the first year that the primary will not be in September and we need your help reminding your friends and neighbors that the primary is now in April and that Sekou needs their support. We also need campaign supporters to knock on doors and reach out to voters. Sign up to volunteer at www.sekoubiddle.org.

Campaign Momentum Continues to Build

Our second finance report shows that Sekou’s support across the District of Columbia is broader and stronger in the District than any of the other at-large candidates. Sekou’s campaign had more small donors than any of our opponents, most of them regular, hard working people who donated because they believe that we can do better and that Sekou Biddle is the person we need to elect to restore faith in the Council. Read more about how Sekou is focusing his campaign on the residents of DC, not corporations or out of state donors like our opponents, at www.sekoubiddle.orgRead more
